Global search

What Axuz search finds — channels, messages, tasks, files, notes, posts, projects, flowcharts and events — and how to use it from the keyboard.

Global search looks across the whole active workspace at once, so you do not need to know which channel or app the content lives in.

How to open it

There are two entry points. The search bar is pinned to the top of the main area: press / to put the cursor in it (the shortcut is ignored when you are already typing in another field). The search palette opens with Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on Mac) and closes with Esc. The field needs at least 2 characters; before that it shows “Type at least 2 characters.” Use the arrow keys to move through results and Enter to open one. The shortcuts panel (the ? key) lists them all.

What search covers

Results are grouped, in this order, each with a badge showing the type:

GroupWhat it looks in
ProjectsProject names and descriptions.
ChannelsChannel names and descriptions.
TasksTask titles and descriptions; clicking opens the task on the channel’s own board.
MessagesThe text of channel chat messages.
TimelinePosts of the timelines (social feed), including tags.
NotesNote titles and content.
FilesNames and types of uploaded files.
FlowchartsFlow flowcharts; they open in the Flow app.
EventsCalendar events; they open in the Calendar app.

Search ranks by relevance: exact match first, then prefix, then substring, and within that the most recent. The matching snippet is highlighted in the result.

What you do not see

Search takes your participation into account: messages and tasks of channels that have a member list only appear for members, and so do projects with restricted access. Do not treat search as access control: who can open a channel is defined by roles and scopes, and what search shows may differ while its result-visibility rule is aligned with the channels’ rule. To understand why someone cannot see a channel, see Roles and permissions.

Tips and limits

  • Short, specific terms work better than whole sentences.
  • Search looks at the active workspace: if you did not find it, check the team switcher in the sidebar.
  • If a loading failure appears, it does not mean “nothing found”: use the retry action.
  • The dedicated search page (/search) is still under construction; the bar and the palette are the current way.
