Channels and timelines
How to chat in channels (messages, threaded replies, reactions, mentions, polls, direct messages and drafts) and how to publish to the timeline, the team's social feed.
Axuz has two ways to communicate inside a team. The channel is the real-time conversation, with chat, tasks, files and a wiki side by side. The timeline is the team’s social feed: rich posts with a title, images, videos and comments, for things that deserve to stay visible longer than a chat message. To see where each one sits in the hierarchy, read the workspace model.
Create and open a channel
- In the sidebar, under Channels, click Create channel.
- Type the name in the
channel-namefield and confirm. You need an active team; without one the screen says “Create a team before creating channels”. - The channel opens with the tabs Chat, Tasks, Files, Wiki and Settings. The Invite button in the header adds people.
The Channels page lists every channel you can access, grouped by project (or under No project), with a search box and a favorite star. In Channel settings you rename the channel, move it to another project or use Archive channel, which hides the channel from the list without deleting messages or files.
Write and send messages
Type in the message box and press Enter to send; Shift+Enter inserts a line break. Text you have not sent yet is saved as the channel draft and follows you if you switch screens or devices. While someone is typing you see who is writing, and the Online dot marks who is connected.
- Mentioning people: type
@at the start of the text or after a space (an email such asana@example.testdoes not trigger it). The list filters members; use the arrow keys, Enter to choose and Esc to close. - Citing a task: type
@task:and the beginning of the title. Enter inserts the task as a clickable card; Space marks several at once. If the task is deleted later, the card shows “Task removed”. - Attachment: the + button in the composer offers Attach file, From gallery (files already in the workspace) and New poll. You can attach one file per message. You can also paste an image with Ctrl+V or drag a file anywhere onto the chat.
- Emoji: the reaction picker has the tabs Reactions, Faces, Gestures, Objects and Symbols.
Actions on a message
Hover over a message to see its buttons: Add reaction, Reply (opens the threaded reply panel on the right), Quote (quotes the message in the composer), Fixar no canal or Desafixar (pin or unpin) and Bookmark. Pinned messages live in the Mensagens fixadas (pinned messages) panel in the channel header. Bookmarks appear under Bookmarks in the sidebar. Some of these hover labels are still shown in Portuguese in the interface even when the rest is in English.
Polls
From the + button, choose New poll. Enter a Question (up to 500 characters) and 2 to 10 options, each up to 200 characters and without duplicates. The poll becomes a message in the channel; each person votes for one option and can use Remove vote. Only the person who created the poll sees Close poll; after that the card shows Closed and the total votes.
Direct messages and calls
Under Direct messages, the New direct message button lets you choose one or more members; with more than one person you get a group conversation. If a conversation with the same group already exists, it is reopened instead of duplicated. Conversations also open in floating windows (Expand, Minimize, Open the full chat).
In the channel header, Start a call lets you Call a member: the other person sees Incoming call with Accept and Decline.
Channel notifications
The bell in the header sets the level: All messages, Only @mentions or Silence everything, plus Mute temporarily with an end date.
Timelines
Open Timelines in the sidebar. Each timeline is a feed; New timeline asks for a name (for example Announcements, People or Culture) and an optional description.
- Inside the feed, click Publish to open the New post editor.
- Fill in the title (optional) and comma-separated tags.
- Build the content with Add block: Text (Markdown supported), Heading, Quote, Image, Video, Audio, File and Gallery. The arrows move a block up or down and Remove block deletes it.
- Click Publish. You need at least one block with content or a title.
On the full post (View full post) there are upvotes and downvotes, plus the Comments, Revisions and History tabs. Suggest revision proposes a change to the text; pending revisions are counted on the tab. Deleting a post moves it to the trash, where an admin can restore it. In the timeline’s Settings you rename it, move it to another project or delete the whole feed (a soft delete, with the audit trail preserved).
